- Digital record keeping, reporting and paying tax, using MTD compatible software.
- The 2021 consultation proposed digital record keeping, quarterly reporting and submission of the annual CT return. Respondents have emphasised the need for early clarity and assurance on both the design and timing, and the need for rules that work for the diverse set of the CT population. The previous government intended to use the MTD for VAT and ITSA experience in designing the MDT for CT.
- Timing: a consultation ended in March 2021 and a summary of responses was published in November 2021. A voluntary pilot for CT was planned to start in April 2024 but appears to have been delayed. There will be no mandatory MTD for CT before April 2026.
