- The UK is negotiating an FTA with India for the first time, with a target of reaching agreement in principle in late 2024. The Labour government has signalled it will agree an FTA as part of a broader UK-India relationship.
- The UK has acceded to the 11 member Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) trade area. Britain is the first new country to join the trade area since its creation. Spanning the Pacific rim from Malaysia to Chile, existing CPTPP countries account for 13% of global GDP and are home to 500 million people. The agreement will enter into force in December with other member countries that have completed their ratification process.
- Negotiations on an FTA with the Gulf Cooperation Council commenced in 2022. The Labour government has signalled its support for continuing negotiations, which are expected to continue throughout 2024.
